Annual General Meeting
On March 31st 2025 ONA 67 held their Annual General Meeting (AGM). Per ONA's Constitution, once a year no later than March 31st, every Local must hold an annual meeting to report on the affairs of the Local to their members with the expressed purpose of approving the Local Budget and any planned changes to Local policies.
For such a meeting to be constitutional, the lesser of 10 members or 10 percent of the Local shall constitute a quorum. ONA 67 has always had good attendance at our AGMs, ranging from 50-80 members these past several years. Meals are provided at these meetings as a thank you to our members for attending.
Our vision is empowered members taking collective action for safe, equitable workplaces and high-quality health-care for all Ontarians. - ONA Statement of Beliefs and Constitution, 2024-2025
ONA is a grassroot union that thrives on member engagement leading to real change in the workplace. There are always opportunities to become more involved as a union representative in several bargaining unit committees' or as a unit representative! The bargaining unit committees, found most often at larger bargaining units, are:
- HR&E, Labour Management, Grievances
- Health & Safety
- Professional Responsibility and Workload
- Safe Return to Work/ Accommodation.
There are a lot of training and learning opportunities through ONA workshops! You can look at the 2025 Education Brochure to see a description of workshops and can log in to Access ONA to see the upcoming workshop schedule. Reach out to your Bargaining Unit President for more info if you are interested in applying! We have education days budgeted in our Local Budget each year to support member education.
Political Action
At the AGM this year, Michelle Gassira an ONA67 member at OHaH (previously SELHIN), provided information on her secondment for ONA 's Nurses Vote campaign. 4 members from each of ONA's 5 regions were tasked with empowering co-workers and the public to make informed choices in the upcoming elections by organizing collective actions. Most recently Michelle has helped organized the attendance of local MPPs at ONA67 Nursing Rallies.
ONA and Michelle are looking to mobilize some volunteers to help make calls and let people know what is important to us as nurses and what should be important to them in strategic areas. Training will be provided, and members will need a laptop and head set or ear buds to make calls. A meal stipend is provided as well.
ONA has already made a meaningful difference in the provincial election after we saw some Ottawa ridings turn away from their conservative incumbents following strategic ONA phone zaps in these regions.

Acknowledgement of Local Executive Members Contributions
This year we said good bye to 3 members of the Local Executive and thanked them for their dedication to the nursing profession and safe, equitable working environments.
Laurie Black-Vincent worked with ONA67 since 2019 first as the BUP for OHaH and more recently as the Local Coordinator. Sam Ransberry worked with ONA67 since 2021 and helped bring the union to CBI Home Health as their first BUP ever! Nicole Payne started with ONA67 in 2022 as the BUP for Providence Manor.
All 3 are amazing nursing advocates and will be missed, thank you!
